Juliane Leite
My name is Juliane Leite. I’m Brazilian and an immigrant.
I grew up on the outskirts of São Paulo and studied Social Sciences at the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp).
At 21, I left Brazil to learn English in Dublin, Ireland. I spent four years there as a student, experiencing first-hand the challenges that only immigrants truly understand.
With limited opportunities in Europe and visa restrictions narrowing my options, I decided to change course and move to Australia: the land of opportunity, as I had heard it described.
And that is exactly what I found. Australia has brought many milestones and achievements into my life, including the opportunity to call this country home.
My work supporting immigrants began unexpectedly: I started by helping people I knew, who then referred others to me. Over time, I realised this was the path I wanted to follow.
Because sometimes, all we need is a helping hand, whether it’s for a simple task or a more complex everyday challenge: making a phone call, visiting the bank or attending a specialist appointment.
I’m here to help.

Frequently asked questions
Is the support in person or online?
Both. The format depends on what each situation needs, whether that is an in-person appointment in Sydney or a telehealth consultation.
Is The Big Helper a healthcare professional or a certified translator?
No. The Big Helper works as a personal assistant, supporting you with communication, organisation and understanding the process. For certified translations, The Big Helper can refer you to trusted partner professionals.
Does this service work for any type of appointment?
Yes, from routine check-ups to more complex appointments. Each case is assessed individually to work out the best type of support.
Can The Big Helper help me understand the Australian healthcare system before my appointment?
Yes. Part of our support is explaining how the system works, including what Medicare is, how bulk billing works and when you need a referral, so you can go into your appointment better prepared.
